I have posted a protest against the western genocide in Palestine twice in the last few months and will continue to do so while the ruling elite of the West is killing people and ethnic groups to serve its imperialism in Palestine and all over the world.
A few days before I recorded this protest, the police had used tear gas on the protesters, so I also expected it could happen again. But it didn’t, except protesters use a smoke bomb.
These protests were held in front of the Icelandic Parliament during a parliamentary session. Icelandic parliamentarians are ALL puppets of the government in Washington, so the Icelandic government is complicit in the horrors that are taking place in the Middle East, both today and in the past, and elsewhere where Western imperialism attacks the world’s inhabitants.
This recording is about 35 minute long, but the whole protest lasted for approx. two hours.
The sound quality in the speaker system that was used by the protestors was terrible, but they were directed towards the parliament building. So I decided to stand behind them rather than in front so therefore It can be heard a little better in the people themselves.

More than 5 months have passed and the genocide is still going on in Gaza in occupied Palestine. Since the Western-backed Zionists started destroying Gaza and the West Bank and the genocide of the people of Gaza, the Iceland-Palestine Association and other peace activists have been holding actions in various places in Reykjavik almost every week all this winter.
I myself have not been able to attend all these solidarity marches, but I did so here when they marched through the center of Reykjavik to the British and German embassies on March 2, 2024.
I encourage people to attend such solidarity marches with Palestine around the world and record them. We must end the horrors that Western imperialism and colonialism have cost the rest of the world for centuries, and most recently in Palestine.
It was quite cold but sunny, and sometimes there was a gust of wind that sometimes interrupted the recording because I didn’t use HPF. Here I am recording in binaural and using Primo EM 172 capsules which are located near my ears and point 180° in each direction.
The recording was done on a Sony PCM-D100 so the equipment fit in a pocket, was light and compact.
At the first peace meeting I attended in October, I used a Baffled-AB-Binaural microphone set based on 2×2 EM172 capsules, which can withstand much higher winds, but at the same time requires more bulky and heavier equipment.

It was a BBC article „’Worrying alarm call’ for world’s birds on brink of extinction“ which reminded me about several recordings I have made of seabirds in cliffs. This recordings are not many or interesting, but who knows how this cliffs will sound in the future when the climate change has changed or destroied the livelihood for many bird species.
So what ever about the quality of this recording is, it can be valuable in the future. Just imagine if we had been given the opportunity to record the Great Auk before it became extinct in the mid- 19th century. It would have been wonderful.
We are loosing some animal species almost every month on the planet. So it is very important to record as much as we can of the biosphere now and in the future…even though it is as likely the recordings will disappeared after several years for just „technical reason“.
„Krýsuvíkurbjarg is a wave-cut cliff that rises from the sea in the lava of Krýsuvíkurhraun.
There are many bird nests found there, approximately 60,000 pairs consisting of 9 kinds of sea birds. The black-legged kittiwak (Rissa tridactyla) is the most common one, a common migrant found in many places in Iceland. It’s population in Iceland is estimated to be about 630.000 birds, what is an interesting fact since the population of people is only 330,000 in the country! The estimated number of kittiwaks in Krísuvíkubjarg is about 21,000 birds.
Common murre (Uria aalge) is a large auk also found in Krýsuvíkurbjarg. They make no nest, their single egg is incubated on a bare rock ledge on a cliff face. Their breeding can be very tight up to 70 birds on each square meter. Interestingly, the young are considered ready to leave their nest only three weeks old, but the male bird teaches the young how to hunt in the beginning. The estimated number of the Common murre in Krýsuvíkubjarg is about 20.000 birds
There are other kinds found on the cliff, but with smaller amounts of birds.The razorbill (Alca torda), The thick-billed murre (Uria lomvia). The northern fulmar (Fulmarus glacialis). The Atlantic puffin (Fratercula arctica) can be found there, but is not as common as it is in Vestmannaeyjar. The European shag (Phalacrocorax aristotelis). The European herring gull (Larus argentatus) is there and the black guillemot or tystie (Cepphus grylle). Above the cliff edge other kinds can be found like the purple sandpiper (Calidris maritima) and The snow bunting (Plectrophenax nivalis).“ (discover.is)

Októberbyltingin var bylting í Rússlandi árið 1917. Hún er kölluð svo vegna þess að hún fór fram í október skv. júlíanska tímatalinu sem þá var í gildi í Rússlandi en samkvæmt gregoríska tímatalinu var dagsetninginn 7. nóvember, og er miðað við þann dag þegar byltingarinnar er minnst. Októberbyltingin var vopnuð uppreisn í Petrograd (núna Sankti Pétursborg) og kom í kjölfar febrúarbyltingarinnar sem hafði gerst sama ár. Októberbyltingin steypti af stóli bráðabirgðastjórn Aleksandr Kerenskij og færði völdin í hendur ráða sem var stjórnað af bolsévikum. Að sama skapi þá breytti byltingin í Rússlandi allri pólitík á vesturlöndum, því í kjölfar hennar fékk almenningur auknar kjarabætur, heilsugæslu og betra skólakerfi frameftir síðustu öld.
Vinstri menn á Íslandi fjölmenntu og héldu upp á þennan viðburð í Iðnó 7. nóvember 2017 með skemmtilegri samkomu þar sem haldnar voru hressilegar ræður, kveðið og sungið á víxl í tæpa þrjá klukkutíma.
Að sjálfsögðu mætti ég með upptökutæki og tók upp viðburðin meðal gesta í miðjum sal. Sú upptaka sem hér heryrist eru tveir dagsrárliðir sem áttu sér stað eftir hlé. Annars vegar er það ræða Vésteins Valgarðssonar og svo lokaatriðið þar sem allir sungu Internationalinn, öll sex erindin þar sem Þorvaldur Þorvaldsson leiðir sönginn og frændi hans, Þorvaldur Örn Þorvaldsson, spilar á gítar.
Því miður er hljóðkerfið í Iðnó afskaplega lélegt. Hljómgæðin eru því skelfileg þó upptaka hafi heppnast með ágætum.
October Revolution 100 years anniversary
At the 7th of 2017 many socialists and other left wing folks in Reykjavik calibrated the 100th anniversary of the Russian October Revolution.
The program included inspired speeches, poetry and songs and singalong songs that lasted for almost three hours. This recording contains two of this programs, an Icelandic speech and then singalong song of The Internationale in full version in Icelandic.
I think I need to apologize for the poor sound quality in this recording but it is mainly because of the sound system of the house.

Við lifum einkennilega tíma. Við þurfum að taka MJÖG rótækar ákvarðanir og breyta lifnarðarháttum okkar miklu meira en flestum likar. Ekki einhvern tíma seinna, heldur NÚNA.
Segja má að Loftslagsráðstefnan í Paris, COP21, sé mikilvægasta ráðstefna sem mannkynið hefur upplifað.
Að því tilefni voru farnar kröfugöngur víða um heim þar sem ráðamenn voru hvattir til að gefa ekkert eftir í þeim efnum.
Ein slík ganga var farin í Reykjavík einn kaldan vetrardag, sunnudaginn 29. nóvember 2015, á vegum náttúruvendarsamtaka. Heppnaðist gangan með ágætum þó fleiri hefðu mátt taka þátt í svo milivægri kröfugöngu.

Our LAST chance, COP21
We live in a strange time where we must take a very radical decisions and changes in our lifestyle. Therefore, is the UN climate change conference now in Paris, COP21’s the most important conference that mankind has ever experienced.
For this occasion many march or demonstrations occurred in cities all around the world where the leaders in the conference were encouraged to make a very radical agreements.
One such climate march was gone in Reykjavik in a cold Sunday, November 29th, 2015.

At Culture nights in Reykjavik the 23rd of august 2014 I was walking downtown with my recording gear. Reykjavik downtown was packed with people walking between events everywhere, in the streets, in galleries, restaurants, pubs and shops. I spent most of the day with AudioTechnica BP4025 on boom until I noticed that the sound was probably not as good as expected for music events. So I cycled home and changed to recently made „MKH20 binaural array„, hoping that it would give a better result.
What interested me most was the six hour event in Hallgrímskirkja church. It was a music event with choirs, organ, sing along and many other kind of music. I spent almost two hours there recording to the end of the event. The last one was the choir Schola cantorum. This choir have beautiful voices and that evening they mostly sang hymn songs and prayers, some very old.
Even though I am completely nonreligious, their prayers and songs touched me deeply . It somehow reminded my all in one, of my childhood, the beautiful nature and the wonders of life .
As in a field recording this recording has its own character with average quality. But honestly, it is the most beautiful music I have ever recorded.
I was probably 15 meters from the choir. People walked trough the church siting down and listening for a while, then walking away all the time so you will hear lot of cloth rustling. Outside there was a huge downtown street party which can be heard during the last minutes of the last song when the side doors of the church was opened.
Quality headphones are recommended while listening.
Einlægur bænasöngur
Hér er á ferðinni upptaka sem tekin var upp á Menningarnótt 23. ágúst 2014 í Hallgrimskirkju. Þennan dag stóð þar yfir 6 tíma dagskrá sem kölluð var Sálmafoss, þar sem ýmsir flytendur komu fram. Í lokin kom fram kórinn Schola cantorum undir stjórn Harðar Áskelssonar með sálmalög og bænir.
Upptakan er lítilega samansett þar sem skarkali og drukknir menn trufluðu upptökuna nokkrum sinnum og tóku stemninguna alveg úr sambandi í þessum frábæra söng. Eftir stóðu þó fjórir sálmar sem eru þessir:
1. „Heyr himna smiður„. Sálmur eftir Kolbein Tumason (1173-1208) . Lag eftir Þorkel Sigurbjörnsson (1938-2013).
3. „Vertu guð faðir faðir minn„. Sálmur eftir Hallgrím Pétursson (1614-1674). Lag eftir Jakob Tryggvason (1907-1999).
4. „Nú hverfur sól í haf„. Sálmur eftir Sigurbjörn Einarsson (1911-2008). Lag eftir Þorkel Sigurbjörsson (1938-2013).
„Nú hverfur sól í haf“ er svo endurtekið eftir að Sr. Jón Dalbú Hróbjartsson sóknarprestur fer með bænina „Faðir vor“, en þá gengur kórinn einn hring um kirkjuna og endar sönginn frammi í andyri. Á meðan á því stendur eru dyr kikjuskipsins opnaðar, en þá má heyra í því villta partýi sem fyrir utan var.

Every 1st of May is a Labour day parade in Reykjavik, where people walk together to the city center, listening to speeches and music.
For one year ago I walked this parade and listening to the day’s program with binaural microphones. Following recording contains the end of the day’s program and suddenly song and speech income of Iceland’s well known socialist Þorvaldur Þorvaldsson.

Verkaliðsdagurinn 1. maí 2012
Verkaliðsdaginn 1. maí, nákvæmlega fyrir ári síðan, mætti ég niður í bæ með Binaural hljóðnema. Ég bjóst ekki við neinu spennandi en lét upptökutækið þó ganga allan tíman. Þegar opinberum ræðuhöldum á Hallærisplaninu lauk tók við söngur Karlakór Reykjavíkur og Léttsveitarinnar. Þar á eftir tók við samsöngur á Internationalinum.
En óvænt í lokin þegar öllu átti að vera lokið kom Þorvaldur Þorvaldsson (Þorvaldur kommi) inn með hressilegan söng og hélt beztu ræðu dagsins.
Önnur upptaka, frá gönguni sjálfri þennan dag er að finna á Audioboo.
Aðventan er hjá mörgum mikill streitutími, ekki síst hjá þeim sem gera miklar kröfur um að hefðir og venjur verði uppfylltar. Sumir kunna þó að njóta dimmustu daga ársins, ekki síst börnin sem fá það á tilfinninguna að eitthvað spennandi gersit á jólum þegar sól fer að hækka á lofti.
Aðventan er oft nýtt til að hitta annað fólk, ekki síst skyldfólk í ýmiss konar heimboðum. Getur þá oft verið kátt á hjalla. Í þessari hljóðmynd hittust þrjú sytkinabörn, þau Líneik Þula, Sölvi og Völundur Arnþór. Sungu þau þrjú jólalög í kaffiboði heima hjá afa og ömmu.

Ár hvert er dagur íslenskrar tungu. Er sá dagur haldinn á afmælisdegi Jónasar Hallgrímssonar, þann 16. nóvember. Eru það helst skólar og fjölmiðlar sem halda deginum á lofti.
Þann 9. nóvember var foreldum annars bekkjar í Breiðagerðisskóla boðið í söngtíma barna sinna. Var það gert í tilefni þess að dagur íslenskrar tungu var í aðsigi. Það sem hér heyrist er söngur barnanna frammi í andyri skólans.

Tvö ár eru liðin frá sýndargóðæri og bankahruni frjálshyggjumanna sem meirihluti þjóðarinnar kaus inn á þing hvað eftir annað. Á þessum tveimur árum sem liðin eru hefur vinstri stjórn átt í fullu fangi með að vinna úr afleiðingum hrunsins. Rúmlega helmingur alþingismanna er ófær um að taka á vandanum. Margir af þeim tóku virkan þátt í að knésetja samfélagið auk þess að vera í bullandi afneitun á því sem gerst hefur. Sama má segja um rúman helming þjóðarinnar.
Afleiðing hrunsins er niðurskurður á öllum sviðum sem fáir hafa skilning á.
Atvinnuleysi er orðið með því mesta sem mælst hefur á Íslandi eða álíka og í dæmigerðu vestrænu samfélagi,
Gríðarlega mikið sparifé hefur tapast, bæði hjá venjulegu fólki og bröskurum. Kaupmáttur hefur minnkað svo fólk verður að láta af fyrri neysluvenjum, sem reyndar fyrir hrun var orðin hjá mörgum hreinasta geggjun. Margir eru því í sárum eftir að hafa komist að því að sýndarheimur fyrri ára stefndi þeim aðeins að feigðarósi.
Skuldir fyrirtækja, heimila og einstaklinga hafa stökkbreyst svo að jafnvel verstu fjármálaafglapar hafa tekið eftir því að eitthvað fór úrskeiðis. Bæði stórir sem smáir skuldarar standa því frammi fyrir því að lenda í ævilöngu skuldafangelsi.
Fólk mætti af misjöfnum hvötum á Austurvöll 4. október 2010 til að mótmæla ástandinu við þingsetningu Alþingis. En segja má að flestir mótmælendur vildu að þingmenn hefðu átt að vera búnir að leysa vanda þjóðarinnar.
Hér er á ferðinni upptaka sem tekin var upp á einum fjölmennustu mótmælum Íslandssögunar, en talið er að u.þ.b. 8 þúsund manns hafi mætt á svæðið.
Upptakan hefst aftan og austan við Skólabrú 1. Gengið er þaðan inn í mannþröngina á Austurvelli til móts við Templarasund og í lok upptökunnar er gengin sama leið til baka.
